RANDY G. BURDICK

Executive Bio


Randy Burdick is a strategic and business-centric technology executive with extensive P&L expertise and a record of transformation and operational improvement across diverse retail and high-tech companies. A recognized thought leader trusted to shape business priorities, define strategy and work with company boards, Randy is adept at managing complex organizational models, developing high-functioning teams, and setting and delivering against strategic goals. He’s led significant change in global organizations, implemented large integrations and divestitures, and launched factories in Europe and Asia.


In his most recent position as EVP Professional Services & Chief Information Officer at SuperValu (2013-2018), Randy was a member of the executive council responsible for driving a strategic shift to core wholesale services and support at a publicly traded grocer with $14B in revenue. He built a new e-commerce team for multiple retail brands, reinvented the business intelligence and “big data” capabilities, and launched a new digital marketing platform to enable new competitive capabilities. He also played a key role in the separation of retail businesses, including the $1.4B sale of 1,300 Save-A-Lot stores in 2016 and the ultimate acquisition of the company by United Natural Foods International in 2018.


In his professional services role, Randy consolidated disparate business service functions into a robust centralized and profitable platform that provided IT, marketing, merchandising and other business process functions to support retail customers – including retail brands divested by SuperValu. The professional services business was key to the company’s growth, providing two years of double-digit EBITDA growth and more than $200M in annual revenue.


Earlier, Randy was Chief Information Officer & Executive Vice President at OfficeMax (2005-2013), responsible for an aggressive upgrade of the IT function to confront retail challenges brought on by digital competition and the 2008 financial crisis. Randy implemented supply chain improvements, consolidated the IT organization, rolled out a new sales force automation tool, executed a major SAP upgrade for the financial environment and implemented major store systems upgrades that facilitated real-time visibility on store sales. He also implemented a unified e-commerce architecture to support multiple websites accounting for more than $2B in sales.


Randy joined OfficeMax from Hewlett Packard/Compaq (1999-2005), where he drove a systems strategy allowing Compaq to compete with Dell’s “build to order” model, managed systems consolidation and SAP environments, and provided IT support for supply chain, HR, information architecture and infrastructure. He had earlier significant IT roles at Advanced Micro Devices and Harris Semiconductor.


Randy has a MS in Computer Science and a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of South Florida. He was a Visiting Industrial Fellow at UC Berkeley and shares a patent for technology advancements achieved with SAPPHiRE, a big data system for product yield-management he developed at Advanced Micro Devices. Randy lives in Raleigh, NC, with his wife, Phyllis.

CHAD MEAD

Chad is an experienced Executive with over 25 years of global, diverse, leadership experience within multiple industries.  Effectively advancing revenue streams and directing enterprise level organizations.  Well versed in cutting edge information systems and readily synchronizes business development, operational efficiency, and technology goals.  Excellent communicator who leads large-scale national and international organizations and interfaces with high-profile government and industry leaders.


Chad is a veteran of multiple industries within and around the IT function. From Operations to Engineering, Sales to Security, Chad has led virtually every function in the space. A frequent speaker at industry conferences, advisor to publications and frequent contributor to forums on experience in redefining how the business of IT is delivered in a high functioning, high performing manner and regularly sought out for improvement.


Chad has a passion around making IT approachable and partnering with the business to ensure that IT is an enabler not a barrier to success. Regardless of the industry, he is frequently able to reduce the cost of IT while delivering improved quality and timeliness. Strong believer that IT starts with understanding the business and speaking in terms that are understandable.


Chad has experience leading Supply chain, retail, manufacturing and finance IT organizations.  He has led major SAP ERP implementations.  Responsible for creating post divestiture organizations as well as integrating acquisitions.


In his most recent position as SVP &Chief Technology Officer at SUPERVALU(2015-2019),Chad was responsible for all aspects of Infrastructure and Operations.  He oversaw the due diligence and integration of two acquisitions and was a key member of the leadership that oversaw the divestiture of Save-A-Lot. He built a successful professional service offering for the Independent Grocery Market including overseeing the sales process.  In addition, he oversaw the transformative decision to re-platform the legacy mainframe services to a cloud-based offering.


Earlier, Chad was Chief Operating Officerat Acuative (2013-2015), responsible for IT, Marketing, Human Resources, Sales, Operations and Logistics. Chad implemented multiple process, staging and tools improvements, reducing the overall SG&A for the company. He oversaw the acquisition of an international consulting organization that resulted in a 40% increase in revenue.  Additionally, he was responsible for adding new customers through multiyear service contract that improved the overall EBITDA of the company by 75%. 


Chad joined Acuative from Cargill (2008-2013), where he started as the first CISO, responsible for creating and growing the first Governance, Risk and Compliance organization in the company’s history. In subsequent years he was responsible for all Infrastructure globally, and eventually all IT Operations with offices in 67 countries, a staff of 2700 and an annual budget of over $900 million.

GARY KINSEY

Gary Kinsey is an entrepreneurial thought leader with experience across multiple IT and business functions in a diverse retail and wholesale business environment.  Throughout his career he has demonstrated success at redefining operational processes, gaining efficiencies, solving problems, building new teams and functions, and managing customer and vendor relationships.  He partners with the business to solve issues, develops the strategic path forward, and builds plans for successful change.  He excels at obtaining alignment between business and IT teams, defining workplans, prioritizing the efforts, and driving execution.  Gary is an engaging leader who enjoys all aspects of people leadership including individual development, empowerment, and accountability.  He is known to get difficult things done and has an established track record of achieving results.


In his most recent position as Vice President, IT PMO and Professional Servicesat SUPERVALU(2013 – 2018), Gary was a member of the IT Leadership Team responsible for all aspect of IT Project Management, Governance, Project Prioritization, and PMO Tools and Methodologies.  There he significantly simplified all PMO practices, improved new Project Manager retention, improved process adoption, and achieved a 50%+ improvement in on-time / on-budget project delivery. Additionally, Gary was responsible for standing up and building out a sales operations group focused on streamlining sales processes for Professional Services, including the build and roll out of SalesForce.com for 3 businesses and more than 300 users across the country. Gary was also accountable for more than 50 field technology consultants who were responsible for national Independent customer relationships, support, and projects, driving over $16M annual EBITDA. In 2015, Gary led a 2 year effort to separate a major business unit from the parent company.


Earlier, Gary was Sr. Director of Infrastructureat SUPERVALU(2012 – 2014) where he led the implementation of managed services outsourcing and day to day operations for several technical domains.  Gary was responsible for managing vendor resources both locally and internationally. 

 

Prior to these roles Gary held progressive roles within IT Application Development at SUPERVALU(1999 – 2012) where he was responsible for strategic application selection, design, development, implementation, and support for several enterprise wide systems.  He led large teams focused on in-store technologies and process improvement. From 1989 - 1999, he gained a wide variety of experience in various functions within Retail Store Operations at company owned stores.


Gary is a versatile and transformational leader with the ability drive results in any subject matter.  He is known for effectively prioritizing, managing, influencing, and connecting IT with the business.  


Gary grew up in southern Virginia and relocated to Minnesota in 2007. He enjoys camping, motorcycling, and spending time with close friends.
